determined to bring the board to heel remains to be seen.Thakur has been elected only until September 2017 because that’s when Manohar’s term wouldhave ended He is the third president the board has had in the last 12 months with the lateJagmohan Dalmiya being the first The Lodha Committee has hung like the sword of Damocles overall their heads Manohar resigned and hopped across to the ICC rather face the prospect ofimplementing a report he did not agree with so Thakur would nowface the fire when the SC finally passes its order with the next hearing set for 28 June You’ve got to admire Thakur for still wanting to be in the hot seat in these uncertain times It would havebeen easy to let someone else take the risk while pulling the strings from behind the scences If hedoes manage to convince the court that the board’s objections are sound he will undoubtedly befeted by his peers However if the court sees fit to implement the entire report over the objectionsof the BCCI Thakur will be forced to act against his beliefs Will he then have the will to push them through Either way these are interesting times for Indian cricket BCCI and for Thakur Written by Adil Akhzer | Chandigarh | females was higher (27) than males(19) In 2013 the number of deaths were recorded at 20(males) and 22 respectively “The cause of increase in IMR in the city could be because the number of migratory population had increased or the number of serious cases reported in the city hospitals from outside were more during that period” said Dr O N Bhakoo former head department of Pediatrics PGI told Chandigarh Newsline He expressed “shock” over the increase of female deaths in the city “This [more female deaths] is not a good sign” Dr Vishal Guglani head pediatrics Government Medical College and Hospital in Sector 32 told Chandigarh Newsline “It proves that perception for liking male child still exist We have seen female infants are mostly brought to hospitals at later stage and their nutrition is also compromised in the initial few months after their birth” Guglani added that the Chandigarh health department could further analyse the cause of the IMR increase and maintained that increase in “migratory population” could be the one of the reason About the birth rate of Chandigarh the SRS report states that the total birth rate recorded was 143 per 1000 births in which 199 was rural and 142 in urban “In Chandigarh the IMR shouldn’t increase” Prof Pratibha Singhi head of department of paediatrics PGI told Chandigarh Newsline “Increasing migratory population not accessing the health facilities in the city could be one of the reasons for the increase”’ Dr Soma Rani district family welfare officer Chandigarh said her office doesn’t have sufficient round-the-clock Asha accessed by Chandigarh Newsline 264 infants died last year within 24 hours of birth from the city Of the total number the maximum number of disease which led to the death include Prematurity Severe birth asphyxia respiratory distress syndrome Sepsis and Pneumonia Doctors say that the cause of infection among infants has multiple reasons “The number of patients are more than the beds available at the hospitals This could led to infection among the newborn babies” Kanya Mukhopadhyay Professor Neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) Department of Pediatrics PGI “An Infant can acquire infection from the mother or if the environment is not hygienic at hospital or a t home” To reduce the number of mortality rate in the Chandigarh Kanya said better infrastructure more hospitals deliveries more awareness among the public are some of the factors which could play a role “The facilities are sufficient in the city But the infant mortality rate can be reduced if the maternal and child health care
